Abstract
" This intimate portrait of my neighbourhood is my way of lending a voice to the forgotten and marginalized, and to the significant human beings who have crossed my path in the past two decades I've lived in Hochelaga. An exhibition and a book to highlight their beauty and luminosity, without concealing the traces their difficult pasts have left on their faces and bodies, and in their hearts. To shine a light on what remains of this working-class neighbourhood alongside the changes brought about by its gentrification. 'Hochelaga' is a tribute to the neighbourhood to which I owe so much, to a changing urban and human landscape that is no longer the one I discovered eighteen years ago, a place where the cracks allow the light in to reveal a world that, while not without blemish, is all the more touching for its unconventional beauty.
