El Intiraymi , si bien es una celebración heredada de los incas, se celebra cada solsticio de invierno sur (21 de junio) en todo los pueblos originarios andinos de Sudamérica como un modo de agradecer un año más de cosechas y vida. También conocido como Año Nuevo andino , implica un ciclo de renovación de buenos propósitos con nuestros pares, con la naturaleza y con los padres Inti (Sol), Quilla (Luna), Pachamama (madre Tierra). En Argentina , la celebración se recuperó en forma abierta y pública después de la última dictadura cívico-militar. Una de las principales ceremonias en este país se realizará en la localidad de Santa María (en la provincia de Catamarca , a 1200 km de Buenos Aires).
