Cette étude avait pour but de faire la lumière sur les tenants et aboutissants de la dynamique relationnelle des acteurs locaux, dont l'école, dans les petites communautés rurales en processus de développement. Nonobstant le contexte local, le leadership s'est avéré l'élément central de la dynamique de collaboration, car il a permis de mobiliser les acteurs autour d'une vision commune et de mobiliser les réseaux territoriaux. Malgré que l'école constitue un facteur essentiel pour le développement local, elle joue un rôle tantôt de catalyseur, tantôt d'acteur et peut aussi être appelée à participer au développement de la communauté. La collaboration est un moyen d'assurer la pérennité de l'école et le développement du milieu. Le mode de partenariat et la mobilisation des réseaux de proximité sont des éléments structurants. Cependant, les modes varient selon les projets et les acteurs impliqués et plusieurs processus sont nécessaires pour mettre en place ou consolider la collaboration.
