Abstract
La thèse explore la transmédiation des récits et des connaissances territoriales par Joséphine Bacon, une aînée et poète innue. La transmédiation suppose que les récits culturels soient transmis par différents médias pour ouvrir diverses fenêtres sur le monde où Bacon est présente tels que la poésie, le cinéma documentaire et le théâtre. La transmédiation est présentée comme un outil pour analyser la transmission des récits autochtones de Bacon parmi une variété de médias artistiques pour favoriser la préservation des traditions culturelles dans un contexte contemporain. Ce cadre méthodologique permet d’explorer la manière dont les thèmes de l’aînée, du patrimoine et du territoire sont abordés dans ces différentes médiations et de quelle façon ils contribuent à la sauvegarde et au rayonnement des cultures autochtones. Le premier chapitre présente la méthodologie de la transmédiation et les thèmes analysés. Par la suite, le chapitre deux porte sur la voix poétique de Bacon dans le recueil Uiesh / Quelque part. Le chapitre trois se concentre sur un film documentaire réalisée par Kim O’Bomsawin, Je m’appelle humain. Finalement, le chapitre quatre aborde deux spectacles de théâtre créés par Émilie Monnet Kiciweok et Neecheemus. Cette thèse cherche à servir d’intermédiaire pour interrompre les silences historiques imposés aux peuples autochtones et à établir une meilleure compréhension et appréciation de leurs récits dans la société canadienne.
