Abstract
Dans une perspective volontairement comparatiste, ce volume consacré à la censure de l'imprimé en Belgique, en France, au Québec et en Suisse romande aux XIXe et XXe siècles donne à lire des textes de chercheurs d'horizons différents : historiens, littéraires, philosophes, sociologues, politologues ou encore médiologues confrontent ici leurs points de vue tant sur toutes les formes de censure. En cette époque où les performances techniques de l'Internet semblent vouloir procurer à l'homme une liberté illimitée de communiquer avec qui bon lui semble et de débattre ou de polémiquer avec la planète entière, la censure ne s'est cependant pas volatilisée comme par enchantement. Sa capacité de nuisance est toujours présente, quel que soit son domaine de prédilection ou d'élection et seule la vigilance critique du citoyen peut permettre de proposer des solutions ou de trouver des parades provisoires. Si ce volume y contribue, grâce à l'analyse rigoureuse des mécanismes qui renforcent son pouvoir, il aura alors été profitable de consacrer quelques heures à sa lecture.
