Abstract
Este artigo discute o ensino de língua estrangeira no Brasil reavaliando a concepção de cultura que o norteja. Baseia-se em uma pesquisa realizada no Canadá e apresenta resultados e reflexões sobre a inegável diversidade cultural das sociedades canadense e brasileira. Na medida em que o estudo sobre o fenômeno da diversidade vem se ampliando atualmente, ele ganha importância para os envolvidos na área, como professores de línguas estrangeiras, em suas aulas de língua, de estudos culturais ou de literatura, pois percebe-se que a questão não se limita às mencionadas sociedades. This article discusses the teaching of foreign language in Brazil by re-evaluating the conception of culture that guides it. It is based on research conducted in Canada and presents results and reflections on the undeniable cultural diversity of Canadian and Brazilian societies. As the study on the phenomenon of diversity has been increasing, it is gaining importance for those involved in the area, as foreign language teachers, in their language classes, cultural studies or literature, since it is perceived that Issue is not limited to those companies.
