The transport of ions in colloids, granular and consolidated porous media is important to a wide variety of environmental and engineering problems. Typical examples are the transport of contaminants in marine sediments, the containment of hazardous waste in soils, ionic exchange in biological membranes and processes related to the durability of building materials [1-4]. Recently, there has been a great interest in understanding the fundamental mechanisms of ionic transport in reactive porous systems. Comprehensive analyses [5,6] and the development of new modeling techniques [7,8] have largely contributed to the improvement of the knowledge of the various phenomena that control the transport of ions at the pore scale and at the scale of the material.
