Abstract
The "Arundell", built by David Bell of Buffalo, New York in 1878, was an iron hull passenger steamer. She sailed on Lakes Ontario and Michigan until she burned down to her hull in a fire at Douglas, Michigan October 18, 1911. In 1916 she was sold, taken to the East Coast, and used as a barge until 1919. The "Arundell" was rebuilt, repowered, and renamed the "Brewster" in 1920. She carried freight along the Coasts of Virginia and the Carolinas until she collided with the "Lake Sterling" on April 21, 1922. One person perished in the ship's sinking.
