Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

If critics are to be believed, the use of video on the theatrical stage had become
\nsomething of a fad by the early years of the new millennium. "Multimedia,"
\nwrote Lyn Gardner in the Guardian, "is a word I've come to dread in the theatre.
\nThere was a period around five years ago when you could hardly step inside a
\ntheatre to see a new play without encountering a bank of video monitors."
\nDiedrich Diederichsen recounts the similarly exasperated tone of a Berlin critic,
\nwho wrote in December 2003 of her wish for the coming year that the Berlin
\nVolksbuhne might resist using video projections just once. Opera, meanwhile,
\nhas been no stranger to this fascination with video. Toronto critic Peter Goddard
\nrecently wrote of "opera's video projection fetish," quoting director Astrid Janson
\non the "fashionable" use of "large projections, particularly in Wagner."

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
