Abstract
È ormai evidente che il ruolo del farmacista non è più legato alla sola dispensazione dei farmaci, ma è sempre più rivolto verso quelle che sono le necessità terapeutiche dei pazienti. Nella nuova ottica della Pharmaceutical Care, infatti, il farmacista promuove servizi socio sanitari che favoriscono il benessere della salute del paziente e contengono la spesa sanitaria con grandi risparmi per il Sistema Sanitario Nazionale. Questo nuovo modello di assistenza rappresenta la lungo attesa opportunità per i farmacisti di riscattarsi ed impiegare in maniera più proficua le sue competenze ed in paesi come Stati Uniti, Canada e Australia la Pharmaceutical Care è un servizio che viene portato avanti con successo. In Europa e in Italia si sta cercando di seguire questa nuova strada, ma lo sviluppo è ancora lento.
