救急患者増加と医療現場の疲弊に対する救急医療システムとしての対応策の一つとして救急外来における救急トリアージすなわち患者緊急度判定システムの導入が必要とされている。日本での救急外来トリアージ導入に対する方向性の確認と科学的評価の確立を目的としてカナダアルバータ州エドモントンにおいて日本・カナダ合同緊急度判定支援システム研究学会を開催した。両国より医師,看護師といった医療従事者のみでなく行政の関係者からの参加も得て,救急外来患者トリアージの臨床応用にさいしての普及方策と課題および導入後の成果の評価の重要性について討議された。
