Ce mémoire de maîtrise examine différentes approches de prévision de l’inflation au Canada en utilisant les données de l’indice des prix à la consommation (IPC). Pour l’exercice de prévision, une méthode désagrégée est adoptée, consistant à combiner les prévisions des huit composantes de l’IPC en comparaison avec la prévision directe de l’IPC global (méthode désagrégée). Par ailleurs, nous examinons deux approches principales : une approche directe qui prédit directement le taux d’inflation et une approche itérative qui prédit le taux d’inflation mensuel et les agrège sur une période de 12 mois. L’exercice de prévision repose sur l’application de modèles ARIMA et ADL. En complément, nous élargissons notre approche en considérant l’utilisation de méthodes de régression pénalisée. Les résultats suggèrent que l’approche itérative se distingue par des performances supérieures à l’approche directe en termes d’erreur quadratique moyenne. De plus, les modèles ARMA et ADL montrent une meilleure performance que les régressions pénalisées, telles que Lasso, Ridge et Elastic-Net. Enfin, les résultats indiquent que la prévision combinée des huit composantes de l’IPC canadien, utilisant une moyenne pondérée des poids de Statistique Canada, présente une performance supérieure à la prévision directe du taux de croissance annuel de l’IPC.
