Salivary cortisol as an indicator of stress in performance quarter horses in a home and show environment
Bibliographic record
Abstract
Seven quarter horses, ranging in age from 5 to 12 yr of age, were used in a study to assess changes in salivary cortisol concentrations before, during, and after a horse show. Saliva was sampled in the horses??? home environment prior to a show, through the show, and after the show, again in their home environment. Samples were taken 4 times a day, once a week, for 5 wk in both home environments and for 6 d (4 times a day) during the show environment. Results showed that in the home environment, prior to the show, horses had the highest cortisol concentrations. The next highest levels were in the show environment, and the lowest levels were in the home environment, after the show. A diurnal rhythm was established in all 3 environments, with morning samples being consistently higher than night samples. The variability in the results of this study question the stability and reliability of salivary cortisol because of inconsistent samples within a stable environment along with difficult handling and shipping techniques.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
