Abstract
Gran parte de los ecosistemas del planeta se encuentran alterados por causas antrópicas. La \nEcología Histórica proporciona un marco disciplinario adecuado para estudiar el pasado y las \ntrayectorias temporales de estos ecosistemas. Para ello existen un conjunto de fuentes, \nmétodos y herramientas adecuados para acometer dichos estudios. Entre las fuentes de \ninformación más importantes se encuentran la documentación histórica (documentos escritos \nde distinta naturaleza, mapas históricos, fotografías antiguas, etc.) y las fuentes orales. Los \nresultados de estos estudios son imprescindibles en: (1) la recuperación del patrimonio \nnatural; (2) la comprensión de las trayectorias históricas de los ecosistemas; y (3) en tareas de \nrestauración y/o gestión que se pretendan llevar a cabo en ellos de cara a su recuperación. \nParte de ello se refleja en los resultados de cuatro trabajos de investigación, que se presentan \ncomo núcleo de este trabajo fin de título. En ellos se exponen reconstrucciones de condiciones \nambientales y actividades antrópicas en tres sistemas sedimentarios eólicos de Canarias. Por \núltimo se discute en torno a las aplicaciones de los trabajos de Ecología Histórica.
