Abstract
Some holders of electronic benefits transfer cards find that dialing the phone number on the back of the cards gets them a sex line, not their balances. A sex hotline's becoming a popular number for benefits card holders in Maine.That's because some people who dial the phone number on the back of their electronic benefits transfer cards to check their balances, actually get directed to a sex hotline.The phone number on some of the cards is off by one digit.The Maine Department of Health and Human Services tells the Sun Journal that officials have known about the problem for months.The department plans to replace the misprinted cards and strengthen its review process to prevent future errors.
