Abstract
Notre thèse cherche à déterminer si les sommes consacrées à la gouvernance permettent de limiter l’ampleur de la gestion du résultat comptable chez les entreprises manufacturières canadiennes. \n \nLes données quantitatives ont été recueillies sur une période de trois ans et proviennent de documents officiels publiés par les entreprises. De nature quantitative, cette thèse estime l’ampleur de la gestion du résultat des entreprises manufacturières canadiennes et décrit le poids relatif des sommes consacrées à la gouvernance pour ces entreprises. Les résultats générés par cette thèse montrent qu’au mieux, les sommes consacrées à la gouvernance ne permettent que de limiter marginalement l’ampleur de la gestion du résultat comptable. Bien que la divulgation de ces sommes ait été effectuée dans un but d’améliorer la transparence entre l’entreprise et l’actionnaire, elle n’est pas (ou marginalement) liée à la fiabilité de l’information financière.
