Üniversite Öğrencilerinde Gönüllülük ve Empati Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi: İstanbul Örneği

Abstract
Bu araştırma İstanbul ilindeki üniversite öğrencilerinin gönüllülük durumları ile empati düzeylerinin incelenmesini amaçlamaktadır. Yapılan alanyazın incelemesinde üniversite öğrencilerinde gönüllülük ve empati becerisi arasındaki ilişkiyi inceleyen araştırmaların kısıtlı olduğu görülmüştür. Bu bağlamda araştırmanın alanyazına katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir. Araştırmanın evrenini İstanbul ilindeki üniversite öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini uygun örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenen 245’i (%55,2) kadın, 199’u (%44,8) erkek olmak üzere toplam 444 üniversite öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın modeli kesitsel tarama modeline uygun tasarlanmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak Sosyodemografik Bilgi Formu ve Toronto Empati Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Veriler çevrimiçi anket yöntemiyle toplanmıştır ve SPSS paket programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda katılımcıların %50,9’unun herhangi bir kulüp, sivil toplum kuruluşuna üye olmadığı, %49,1’inin en az bir kulübe ya da sivil toplum kuruluşuna üye olduğu saptanmıştır. Kulüp ya da sivil toplum kuruluşu üyeliği bulunan veya kulüp ya da sivil toplum kuruluşunda aktif gönüllü olan katılımcıların empati puanları herhangi bir kulübe ya da sivil toplum kuruluşuna üye olmayan veya daha önce aktif gönüllülük yapmamış olan katılımcılardan daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Araştırmanın örnekleminin sadece İstanbul ilindeki üniversite öğrencilerinden oluşması araştırmanın sınırlılıklarından biridir. Ayrıca kesitsel bir çalışma olarak planlanmıştır. Mevcut durumu göstermekte ancak neden sonuç ilişkisini göstermemektedir. Gelecekte daha geniş bir örneklem ile kontrol gruplu bir çalışmanın yapılması önerilmektedir.
