Abstract
Albueleddsdysplasi (AD) er en samlebetegnelse for ulike utviklingslidelser som kan oppstå i albueleddet hos hunder, og føre til smerte og frambeinshalthet. Etiologien for disse lidelsene er sammensatt og flere faktorer spiller inn, både genetikk og miljø. Som del i forebyggende avlsarbeid mot sykdommen har NKK et screeningarbeid der det settes krav til kjent AD status hos avlsdyr hos enkelte raser. Andre raseklubber oppfordres sterkt til å gjøre screening før utvalg av avlsdyr. I nordiske land har man holdt på med aktivt avlsarbeid mot albueleddsdysplasi i oppimot 35 år. Denne fordypningsoppgaven ser nærmere på om det har vært en avlsmessig fremgang over de siste 20 årene ved å se på utviklingen i forekomst av albueleddsdysplasi hos rasene berner sennen, rottweiler, labrador retriever, golden retriever og schæferhund. Vi fant en mild reduksjon i andel av screenede hunder som ble diagnostisert med albueleddsdysplasi. Det var også et gjennomgående funn i statistikken fra Dogweb at andelen av screenede hunder med grad 1 har blitt redusert, mens andel med grad 3 har økt. Økningen i grad 3 er en konsekvens av at det i løpet av de siste 20 årene har blitt utviklet nye graderingsmetoder som bedre fanger opp primærlidelser og ikke kun baserer seg på sekundærforandringer som artrose.
