Dopo la scoperta del mal dell'inchiostro nel XVIII secolo e l'introduzione del cancro corticale nella prima metã del Novecento, è ora la volta di un insetto considerato tra i più dannosi a livello mondiale sul castagno: il cinipide galligeno, un parassita originario dalla Cina e scoperto perla prima volta in Europa nel 2002 nella Provincia di Crureo.
