Abstract
Recientes estudios muestran que el bromuro de metilo es una sustancia potencialmente muy destructora de la capa de ozono, pues el radical bromo es 50 veces mas destructivo que el radical cloro. Como producto agroquímico utilizado en Chile en la fumigación de frutas y hortalizas de exportación y en menor grado de bodegas y en la desinfección de suelos, su inclusión en la lista de sustancias controladas por el Protocolo de Montreal, puede traer graves consecuencias económicas y sociales. Este trabajo, analiza las variables químicas y agronómicas que pueden afectar el uso futuro del compuesto en Chile.
