Abstract
O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar a estrutura, o desenvolvimento e a funcionalidade da famÃlia que convive com a hipertensão arterial. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, desenvolvido junto a duas famÃlias, em que foi utilizado o Modelo Calgary de Avaliação da FamÃlia. Este propõe a utilização de três categorias de análise: estrutural, desenvolvimental e funcional, e dos instrumentos genograma e ecomapa. As duas famÃlias são nucleares, porém, uma é formada pelo casal, e seus três filhos são casados e residem em outros domicÃlios. A outra é monoparental, constituÃda pela mãe e pelos filhos. O filho casado reside em outra casa, no mesmo quintal, com esposa e filha. A aplicação do modelo de avaliação familiar permitiu conhecer aspectos relacionados à estrutura, ao funcionamento e ao desenvolvimento das duas famÃlias, que interferem, dificultam ou favorecem o desenvolvimento do cuidado no cotidiano.
