Abstract
In Canada is een grote stofzuiger die voor of achter een tractor gehangen kan worden “Beetle Eater” genaamd, gebruikt ter bestrijding van de coloradokever in aardappelen. Een dergelijk apparaat is in 2007 toegepast ter beheersing van plagen in koolgewassen. PPOGAGV heeft op de Broekemahoeve en in Westmaas deze machine op drie verschillende tijdstippen ingezet bij de beheersing van plagen in kool (witte kool en spruitkool). Uit het oriënterend onderzoek is naar voren gekomen dat op deze wijze de aantallen en het percentage planten bezet met rupsen van het koolmotje en volwassen koolwittevliegen aantoonbaar afneemt.
