Abstract
En el contexto de movilidad cultural post-TLCAN el norte del continente americano forma un bloque que busca estratégicamente estrechar sus lazos diplomáticos a través del arte. La obra fotográfica de la artista quebequense Catherine Bodmer subraya con ironía la globalización de los estereotipos nacionalistas, promovidos en el marco de esta nueva movilidad cultural. En este artículo analizo cómo al cuestionar la identidad del medio fotográfico, Catherine Bodmer nos hace reflexionar sobre el devenir de lo local a través del espacio urbano globalizado e interroga el imaginario de la megalópolis subdesarrollada a través de su dimensión histórica, cultural y social. No sólo nos invita a reflexionar sobre las relaciones identitarias Norte-Sur en la era post-TLCAN, sino que propone discutir cómo “tú me miras y yo te miro” a través este imaginario compartido.\nCatherine Bodmer: urban space and imaginary post-NAFTA identitiesIn the context of post-NAFTA cultural mobility, the North American continent forms a bloc that seeks strategically to strengthen its diplomatic ties through art. The photographic work of the Québec artist Catherine Bodmer ironically underlines the globalization of nationalist stereotypes promoted within the framework of this new cultural mobility. In this article I discuss how Catherine Bodmer’s questioning the identity of the photographic medium makes us reflect on the future of ‘local’ through the globalized urban space, and examines the imagery of the under-developed megalopolis through its historical, cultural andsocial dimensions. Attraverso l’installazione o la fotografia, ella analizza le identità turistiche asettiche, depurate da ogni conflitto sociale, le quali vengono esportate all’estero distorcendo la soggettività culturale.
