Abstract
O ensaio apresentado surge do tema geral proposto “ A Monumentalidade crítica de Álvaro Siza – Projeto de renovação urbana depois da exposição Internacional de Lisboa de 1998 (Expo 98’) “ no âmbito de projeto final de arquitetura. O projeto da Expo 98’ é visto como modelo base para a formalização do programa polis. A análise da evolução urbana da cidade de Chaves e o consequente estudo da obra de Álvaro Siza, Museu Arte contemporânea Nadir Afonso inserido programa polis, serve como mote conceptual para a execução do projeto de arquitetura. A proposta procura resolver as atuais fragilidades do terminal rodoviário com o intuito de estabelecer uma nova centralidade na cidade. Uma infraestrutura desenvolvida em torno de dois eixos que propõem gerar novas continuidades na malha urbana e dar à cidade um papel estruturante no desenvolvimento das margens do rio Tâmega.
