A través de mètodes qualitatius, aquest treball pretén esbrinar si la cultura i la creativitat han contribuït a la transformació dels barris culturals de Montréal. A més, es vol esclarir si tant una com l'altra han fomentat el desenvolupament del turisme sostenible en aquestes àrees de la ciutat. Per dilucidar-ho, es fa un repàs a les polítiques culturals i turístiques d'aquest municipi canadenc i s'examina l'implementació del concepte de sostenibilitat en la ciutat, sobretot en els sectors de la cultura i el turisme.
