El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo formar profesionales capaces de hacer cosas nuevas, que no repitan lo que otros han hecho, mentes capaces de ejercer la crítica, que puedan comprobar por sí mismos lo que escuchan o hacen. La investigación tuvo un diseño no experimental de corte transversal. Esto implica que se utilizó dos instrumentos de recolección de datos para cada variable. Para medir el nivel de pensamiento crítico, se utilizó una encuesta de 33 ítems con una escala de tipo Likert de 0 a 99 puntos. El instrumento cuenta con ocho dimensiones. Dicho instrumento fue validado a través de juicio de expertos y sometidos a la prueba de confiabilidad de alfa de Cronbach, obteniendo para el pensamiento crítico un coeficiente α = 0.808, lo cual dio lugar a la recolección de datos. La población estuvo conformada por 72 enfermeras de la Clínica Geriátrica San Isidro Labrador. Para obtener la muestra se aplicó la técnica del muestreo no probabilístico, resultando un total de 12 enfermeras. Los datos fueron procesados a través del SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). Los resultados muestran que el nivel de pensamiento crítico de las enfermeras es “alto” en 50%, y un 41.7% posee un nivel medio, mientras que un 8.3% de los profesionales posee nivel bajo. De acuerdo al coeficiente de correlación, el grado de confiabilidad del instrumento de medición “Pensamiento Crítico” es fuerte (r = 0.808) y significativo (p = 0.05 y 0.01).
