Este Trabajo de Fin de Máster busca analizar el papel de las mujeres ante la sucesión de bienes intestada en la Castilla Moderna, particularmente a través de solicitudes de pago de soldada. Mientras que, por una parte, la falta de una voluntad por escrito -un testamento- causaba incertidumbre patrimonial, también podía proporcionar un mayor campo de actuación. Consecuentemente, esta investigación ahondará en las acciones femeninas emprendidas para la defensa de lo que consideraban sus derechos sucesorios, mediante el análisis de fuentes documentales de los siglos XVI, XVII y XVIII conservadas en el Archivo General de Indias. Ello permitirá identificar los elementos que fueron determinantes para la adjudicación del pago de soldada, y comprobar la influencia que tuvieron (o no), el género, el parentesco consanguíneo y el matrimonio.

\nEspecialmente, me interesa analizar los argumentos expuestos por parte de las mujeres como posibles herederas en su individualidad con el objetivo de reflexionar sobre la manera en cómo concebimos el papel del hombre y la mujer en términos históricos y más aún dentro de una sociedad eminentemente patriarcal como lo era la de la monarquía hispánica moderna.
