Debonding of Adhesively Bonded Rubber Gaskets From Metal Plates Through Immersion in Liquid Nitrogen
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The purpose of this thesis work was to investigate the debonding of rubber gaskets from metal plates through immersion in liquid nitrogen. The work was con- ducted at Alfa Laval, a company which produces Gasketed Plate Heat Exchangers (GPHEs), which consist of metal plates with adhesively bonded rubber gaskets. Gasket debonding is a key step in the reconditioning of GPHE plates, and un- derstanding the mechanisms and influencing factors is essential for improving the process. To achieve this, a test geometry consisting of peel test samples was designed. The failure modes of the adhesive bonds after debonding were analyzed across different material and process factors. The results showed that the aging of the adhesive bond significantly affects debonding success. Other important factors include gasket ma- terial, adhesive type, and immersion time, each of which plays a crucial role. These findings suggest that debonding performance is highly sensitive to the specific ma- terial system, and that thorough material testing is necessary before implementing new combinations in production.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.

machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
