Latar Belakang: Gigi tiruan berbahan resin akrilik heat cure memiliki
\nkelemahan mudah terjadi porus sehingga mudah terjadi akumulari
\nmikroorganisme. Peningkatan mikroorganisme pada gigi tiruan dapat
\nmengakibatkan masalah seperti denture stomatitis, sehingga perlu dilakukan
\npembersihan gigi tiruan secara rutin. Denture cleanser dari bahan kimia
\nmemiliki banyak kekurangan, sehingga diperlukan bahan lain yang bersifat
\nalami, salah satunya adalah ekstrak biji pepaya (Carica papaya L.)., Tujuan:
\nUntuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak biji pepaya (Carica papaya L.) sebagai
\ndesinfektan untuk menghambat pertumbuhan mikroorganisme pada resin
\nakrilik Metode: Biji pepaya dikeringkan kemudian dimaserasi dengan etanol
\n96% hingga menjadi ekstrak. Sampel saliva yang sesuai dengan persyaratan
\ndikumpulkan sebanyak 15 ml dan dibagi menjadi dua bagian. Bagian saliva
\npertama adalah saliva steril dan bagian lainnya akan digunakan untuk
\nkontaminasi bakteri pada resin akrilik. Sampel dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok
\nuntuk masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari kontrol, dan kelompok perlakuan,
\nperlakuan konsentrasi 2,5%, konsentrasi 5%,konsentrasi 10%, dan 20%.
\nPerhitungan koloni Mikroorganisme dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat
\nhitung koloni Quebec Colony Counter. Hasil: terdapat perbedaan yang
\nsiginifikan antara 5 kelompok. dengan nilai p=0,000 (p<0,005), dan
\nkonsentrasi yang paling efektif adalah 20%. Kesimpulan: Ekstrak biji pepaya
\n(Carica papaya L.) 20% adalah konsentrasi paling efektif yang dapat
\nmenghambat mikroorganisme rongga mulut pada resin akrilik heat-cured.
