Abstract
Originally named "Alexis W. Thompson," this 6,436-gross ton propeller-driven vessel was built by the West Bay City Shipbuiding Company of West Bay City, Michigan in 1908. She was variously owned by the Valley Steamship Company, Becker Steamship Company, and the Midland Steamship Company, all of Cleveland, Ohio. In 1955, she was owned by the River Steamship Company and then the Browning Lines, both of Detroit, Michigan. Finally in 1959 until she was scrapped at Hamilton, Ontario in 1962, she was owned by the Omega Lake Ship Company of Buffalo, New York. Image 3821,FR2,19.5.1 was taken sometime between 1955 - 1962, when she was named the "Ernest R. Johnson." Image 3822.FR2.19.5.2 was taken between 1933 - 1955 when owned by the Midland Steamship Company. She was then named the "Edward N. Saunders, Jr."
