Un échangeur air-sol aussi appelé puits canadien est un système qui permet de diminuer la charge de chauffage/climatisation créée par la ventilation. Il consiste en un réseau de tubes souterrains dans lesquels circule l’air avant d’être introduit dans le bâtiment. Bien que connu depuis longtemps ces systèmes restent rares, entre autres en raison des coûts liés à l’excavation. En plaçant l’échangeur autour des fondations du bâtiment lors de sa construction, ces coûts sont annulés. Cependant l’espace disponible est alors limité. L’étude présente cherche à estimer si une configuration de ce type est viable économiquement pour une habitation unifamiliale située à Montréal. Dans ce but des simulations utilisant le logiciel TRNSYS furent effectuées. Une étude de dimensionnement est menée pour trouver la configuration donnant les meilleurs résultats. Elle conclut que des tubes de petits diamètres constitués de matériaux peu chers donnent de meilleurs résultats. Ils doivent également être placés le plus profond et le plus loin possible des fondations. Les résultats mettent en avant des pertes importantes par courtcircuitage et par couplage. En somme, environ 50 % de la chaleur sensible échangée avec le sol est ainsi réellement utile. Pour l’habitation étudiée, l’échangeur dans sa configuration optimale permet de réduire la charge de chauffage/ climatisation de 711 kWh/an. Cette valeur est trop faible pour compenser, dans un délai raisonnable, l’achat et l’installation de l’échangeur. L’étude n’indique donc pas de bonne perspective pour le système au Québec. Une étude de sensibilité est également effectuée et conclue que les résultats des simulations sont fortement liés aux paramètres utilisés pour caractériser le sol et le climat.
