SUMMARY
\nThe authors present in their study a Labrador retriever with chronic nervous
\nsystemdisorder to demonstrate how could a progressively increasing primary
\nbraintumour (as histopathological fi ndings later confi rmed, an ependymoma) affect
\nan animal’s attitude, pathological and compulsive behaviour, causing epileptic
\nseizures, while disrupting physiological function of the frontal and temporal lobes,
\nand also the limbic system. In addition to the gradually ingravescent and diverse
\nclinical symptoms, compulsive behaviours (especially abnormal appetite over several
\nyears) caused great damage of the gastrointestinal tract and detoxifying-system,
\nwhich ultimately led to subsequent liver failure so extended that deterioration
\nof medical condition could not be reversed. Therefore, the authors emphasize
\nthe importance of comprehensive professional collaboration, detailed knowledge
\nabout the patient’s medical history and habits, and targeted testing for diseases
\nwhich could lead to early detection and choosing the most effective treatment.
