El siguiente texto representa un homenaje a don Tomás Grigera, en ocasión del bicentenario de su “Manual de Agricultura”, con la finalidad de resignificar su figura. Para ello se hizo un recorrido por su existencia caracterizándolo en cinco dimensiones: El Patriota, El Magistrado, El Labrador, El Fundador y El Pedagogo de la Agricultura. Luego, se hizo referencia al Manual de Agricultura destacando, entre tantas de sus virtudes, que fue destinado a labradores principiantes y funcionó como un resumen práctico para cada uno de los doce meses del año. A pesar de su practicidad y del éxito que tuvo oportunamente este texto, con el tiempo él y su autor cayeron en el olvido. Es por ello que se destaca que homenajear a don Tomás Grigera, como lo hizo el Instituto Histórico de Lomas y la Academia Nacional de Agronomía y Veterinaria, en reuniones donde se ilustraron sus virtudes son actos justicieros. Pero, quizás, ningún homenaje resulte más apropiado que volver a leer las páginas del "Manual de Agricultura", con la mirada “re-semantizadora” del presente, ya que este es un modo de salvarlo del olvido, y es, en suma, la tarea de toda memoria que se precie de su sentido histórico e identitario.
