Abstract
Le syndrome confusionnel est une pathologie fréquemment rencontrée chez les personnes âgées et correspond à une altération globale des fonctions supérieures. Les étiologies sont multiples (toxiques, infectieuses, neurologiques, métaboliques, endocriniennes...), mais sont parfois multifactorielles. Le syndrome confusionnel doit être considéré comme une urgence de 2ème niveau selon la classification canadienne du tri infirmier (malade à évaluer médicalement dans les 20 minutes suivant son admission administrative), et ses prises en charge diagnostique et thérapeutique imposent une hospitalisation. Notre étude de 48 patients a consisté à étudier et critiquer la démarche diagnostique permettant d'aboutir au diagnostic final des patients admis pour syndrome confusionnel au Service des Urgences de Clermont-Ferrand en déterminant les différents examens cliniques et complémentaires réalisés aux urgences.
