"Objetivo: Refletir sobre a experiência de uma prática educativa de promoção da saúde direcionada a um grupo de homens da Ilha de Paquetá. Método : Estudo exploratório com abordagem qualitativa. Resultados : O volume de dados coletados permitiu delinear a primeira fase do processo de enfermagem, o histórico dos sujeitos. Uma população de homens que trabalhavam na Ilha, tendo estudado até a nona série do ensino fundamental, casados, moravam com a família, possuíam uma renda média de seis salários mínimos (IBGE, 2000) , mantenedores ou dividiam os gastos com a esposa. Conclus ão : O grupo conseguiu desmistificar essas idéias e aprender que os novos modelos e os ideais trazidos por eles são mais relevantes e conseguem atingir com facilidade a população."
