Abstract
Le projet artistique Hétérotopie virtuelle, qui est au centre du présent mémoire de recherche-création, constitue un terrain d'expérimentation pour mieux saisir les processus de création-production à l’aide des technologies de captation de lieux physiques réels par nuages de points. Dans ce contexte, il s’agit d'étudier l’utilisation du Scan 3D comme une technologie menant à une pratique de création artistique émergente, en examinant d’abord quelques cas de productions récentes, puis en documentant le processus de réalisation d’une oeuvre inédite utilisant une archive massive de nuages de points obtenus par la technologie de type Lidar. Le concept d'hétérotopie y est posé en tant que cadre interprétatif pour définir, sous la forme d'une production artistique, les possibilités amenées par cette technologie. Le praticien tente ici de comprendre comment l'utilisation de cette technologie peut influencer ou renouveler le processus de réalisation d'oeuvres numériques immersives en introduisant une méthode de travail itérative. Contrairement à une chaîne de production audiovisuelle traditionnellement hiérarchisée de type «waterfall», l'usage de ces technologies tend à amener un mode de conception et de création moins linéaire et résolument itératif, notamment par l'introduction récente des logiciels traditionnellement dédiés au domaine des jeux vidéo. Cet aspect tend à favoriser une pratique expérimentale basée sur la production de multiples prototypes.
