Abstract
A temática abordada nesta dissertação insere-se na linha de pesquisa Memória, Cultura e Identidade do Mestrado Profissional em Memória Social e Bens Culturais. A pesquisa está situada em um contexto do Turismo Cultural e objetivou estudar a história e os imaginários sociais e urbanos dos becos de Porto Alegre no final do século XIX para, a partir disso, propor um itinerário histórico-cultural que possibilite recuperar aspectos da memória da cidade. O referencial teórico está norteado pelos conceitos de memória, imaginário e turismo, assim como pela história de Porto Alegre e de seus antigos becos. A metodologia adotada foi a pesquisa qualitativa, de cunho exploratório, com pesquisa documental e bibliográfica. O estágio de mobilidade acadêmica em Quebec e Ottawa, no Canadá, no ano de 2014, também contribuiu para o embasamento teórico. O produto final é a elaboração de um itinerário histórico-cultural, considerando a temática dos becos do final do século XIX na cidade de Porto Alegre.
