Abstract
Le mémoire aborde la gestion de l'identité canadienne, dite nationale, dans un contexte de diversité culturelle. La Commission royale d'enquête sur le bilinguisme et le biculturalisme (CREBB) a permis d'élaborer des politiques et des lois canadiennes sur la langue et la culture. À partir du principe du dualisme, contenu dans la CREBB, le gouvernement a établi des structures administratives pour la gestion du pluralisme. Le contexte social de l'époque démontre les réformes souhaitées par la population, pour les institutions gouvernementales. Les critiques d'auteurs, sur le modèle du multiculturalisme canadien, exposent, néanmoins, un intérêt pour une actualisation des dernières découvertes sur la culture. Le caractère des"deux nations fondatrices" est contenu dans le bilinguisme officiel et la contribution de la diversité culturelle est implicite dans la politique multiculturelle. Le Parlement canadien contribue, par la modernisation de ses lois et de ses politiques, à l'avancée de la démocratie sur la scène internationale.
