Abstract
C'est à partir des constats de retard et de différence d'orientation entre le processus de l'admission des femmes à l'Université Laval et celui qui est généralement observé en Occident, que nous abordons cette étude. En effet, l'Université de Québec accepte ses premières étudiantes plus de soixante ans après les premières admissions universitaires féminines dans le monde occidental et temporise encore plus longuement l'admission de candidates dans les programmes menant aux professions libérales. Cette étude de l'admission des femmes à l'Université Laval met en relief les facteurs responsables de l'accession tardive et les facteurs qui ont finalement favorisé l'ouverture de l'institution à la clientèle féminine. L'étude porte sur une période comprise entre 1901 et 1945, c'est-à-dire entre le moment de la première demande d'admission (refusée) d'une femme et le moment où, après une première période de développement, la progression de l'admission féminine connaît un ralentissement.
