Abstract
Suite à une enquête orale d'une durée de deux ans effectuée auprès des 42 pêcheurs commerciaux du lac Saint-Pierre, je suis maintenant en mesure de démontrer que la pratique de la pêche commerciale en eau douce au Québec a marqué l'établissement et le développement de sociétés de pêcheurs qui subsistent encore aujourd'hui. Les effets de la mécanisation ou de la non-mécanisation de certains aspects du travail du pêcheur commercial a grandement influencé et modifié les notions d'espace et de temps. L'adaptation ne s'effectue pas sans heurt pour la communauté de pêcheurs de Notre-Dame-de-Pierreville.
