Abstract
L'idée de l'existence au Québec, avant les années soixante, d'une publicité de langue française présentant une spécificité par rapport au modèle nord-américain anglo-saxon va à l'encontre des idées qui ont cours dans le milieu. Tant publicitaires que sociologues affirment que la publicité québécoise est née avec la Révolution tranquille et constitue, en quelque sorte, une autre manifestation de la pris e de conscience, à cette époque, d'une identité québécoise «moderne» par divers milieux, notamment celui des affaires. L'une des raisons avancée s pour expliquer cet état de fait est l'inexistence d'une structure d'apprentissage en langue française du métier de publicitaire. Ce mémoire démontre qu'une telle structure existait bien avant la Révolution tranquille et que, pendant les années vingt, l'enseignement de la publicité au Canada français et une presse spécialisée embryonnaire intégrait les derniers développements de la recherche en ce domaine, tout en présentant une certaine originalité par rapport au modèle anglo-saxon.
