Abstract
Sur la base d'entretiens individuels et collectifs avec 31 veuves de la cohorte ANRS 1215, ce chapitre décrit et analyse leur expérience, leur situation et les motifs de leur veuvage prolongé. Les veuves ont en commun des conditions socioéconomiques difficiles, qui les rendent dépendantes de leur famille ; la crainte de la divulgation de leur statut VIH+ et le statut des veuves dans la société sénégalaise leur impose de s'effacer. Elles subissent une pression en faveur du remariage, bien que beaucoup ne le souhaitent pas ; les motivations au remariage, le cas échéant, sont essentiellement négatives. Enfin, la crainte de la divulgation de leur statut les conduit à refuser des prétendants ou à chercher un partenaire VIH+, avec peu de chances d'être satisfaites.
