Abstract
Cette monographie porte sur la lutte contre les coupures de 103 millions de dollars dans l'aide financière aux études des étudiants postuniversitaires du Québec par le gouvernement libéral de Jean Charest. En mars 2004, le gouvernement du Québec déposa son premier budget et y inclut une mesure stipulant que le Programme de l'aide financière aux études serait amputé de 103 millions de dollars. Suite à cette décision, un important mouvement de contestation étudiant a pris son envol pour devenir la plus grande mobilisation étudiante des 40 dernières années au Québec. La lutte s'est achevée lorsque les étudiants et le gouvernement en sont venus à un compromis au début du mois d'avril 2005 après plusieurs semaines de grève étudiante. La force du mouvement étudiant, leur argumentaire contre les coupures et leur capacité de se mobiliser rapidement, ont permis aux étudiants d'obtenir la faveur de la population québécoise sur cet enjeu et de faire plier le gouvernement. Cette lutte marquera l'histoire du mouvement étudiant, mais laissera aussi, à l'intérieur même du mouvement, des cicatrices, dues notamment aux divisions internes qui se sont manifestées au cours de cette lutte.
