Cette première enquête sur le placement socialement responsable (PSR) démontre que les « fonds éthiques » sont relativement moins populaires au Québec qu’ailleurs au Canada. Dans le domaine des pratiques de placement responsable (PR) de base, constituées de portefeuilles filtrés sur la base de critères de valeurs éthiques, la sous- catégorie des gestionnaires et des investisseurs regroupe des actifs de près de 6 milliards (G) $. Cette sous-catégorie est cependant celle où les probabilités de double comptage sont les plus importantes. Dans la sous-catégorie des fonds de placement au détail (près de 4 G$), les actifs provenant des fonds de travailleurs - la partie non admissible à la règle des 60 % - constituent, et de loin, la part la plus importante.\nAvec ses 252 G$, les pratiques de placement responsable (PR) élargies représentent les actifs les plus imposants de la finance responsable au Québec. La contribution de la Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDP) à cette composante est certes importante, tant comme gestionnaire d’actifs que fiduciaire de caisses de retraite publiques ou de divers autres fonds de réserve publics. Mais la popularité croissante de la gestion d’actifs tenant compte de critères environnementaux, sociaux et de gouvernance (ESG) fait en sorte que les pratiques de PR élargies ont atteint une taille critique au Québec.
