La présente recherche traite du sujet des casinos autochtones. Il s’agit plus précisément de mener une analyse approfondie des enjeux politiques, juridiques et moraux de l’intégration de certaines communautés autochtones dans un modèle financier ultracapitaliste. Ce sujet, bien que sensible à plusieurs égards, a le potentiel de révéler des problématiques inédites concernant les structures institutionnelles coloniales au Canada. La présente recherche poursuit l’objectif principal de documenter un phénomène peu connu du grand public, mais également peu traité par le champ des recherches en études autochtones. L’étude des organismes autochtones Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) et la Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC), qui ont pour mandat de réguler l’offre des jeux de hasard, nous informent dans une revue de presse sur le potentiel des casinos de venir bousculer les orientations canadiennes et provinciales tant en matière de politiques autochtones qu’en matière de réglementation des jeux d’argent. Les résultats dévoilent avant tout un réel casse-tête juridique dans lequel s’inscrivent les casinos autochtones, mais mettent également en lumière la complexité morale d’un capitalisme autochtone.
