Abstract
RÉSUMÉ : La collection numismatique du site du Monument circulaire de Carthage se compose d'artefacts monétaires et non-monétaires rassemblés au cours des douze campagnes de fouille (1976-2002) dirigées par Pierre Senay, alors professeur à l'Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR). En 2011, il confia la collection pour fins d'étude à Nicolas Beaudry, professeur d'histoire et d'archéologie à l'Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR). La collection avait déjà fait l'objet de quelques études publiées sous forme de catalogue, puis de plusieurs démarches successives de traitement et d'inventaire, dont toutes n'ont pas abouti. Ce mémoire offre un portrait exhaustif de la collection par le biais d'une base de données ainsi qu'une étude des artefacts selon une approche archéologique, historique et numismatique. Par l'analyse et l'interprétation des monnaies dans une perspective pluridisciplinaire, ce mémoire apporte une contribution inédite aux recherches des dernières décennies sur le site du Monument circulaire et contribue modestement à l'histoire monétaire de Carthage au cours du l'Antiquité tardive (IVe au VIIe siècle). Les données de la collection, à l'aune des études menées dans ce mémoire, ont permis de mieux comprendre l'articulation économique du site du Monument circulaire tout en complétant les résultats livrés par les différentes opérations archéologiques menées par Pierre Senay de 1976 à 2002. -- Mot(s) clé(s) en français : Monument circulaire, Carthage, archéologie, numismatique, Antiquité tardive, périodes romaine, vandale, byzantine. -- \nABSTRACT : The numismatic collection from the Circular monument of Carthage consists of monetary and non-monetary artefacts gathered during the twelve exacavation campaigns (1976-2002) directed by Pierre Senay, then professor at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR). In 2011, he entrusted the collection for study purposes to Nicolas Beaudry, professor of history and archaeology at Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR). The collection had already been the subject of a few studies published in the form of catalogue, then of several successive approaches to treatment and inventory, not all of which were successful. This master's thesis offers an exhaustive portrait of the collection through a database as well as a study of the artefacts according to an archaeological, historical and numismatic approach. Through the analysis and interpretation of artefacts from a multidisciplinary perspective, this dissertation makes an unprecedented contribution to the research of recent decades on the site of the Circular monument and contributes modestly to the numismatic history of Carthage during Late Antiquity (IVth to VIIth century). The data from the collection, in the light of the studies carried out in this thesis, have made it possible to better understand the economic articulation of the site of the Circular monument while supplementing the results delivered by the various archeological operations carried out by Pierre Senay from 1976 to 2002. -- Mot(s) clé(s) en anglais : Circular monument, Carthage, archaeology, numismatics, Late Antiquity, Roman,Vandal and Byzantine periods.
