Abstract
Le vendredi 23 juin 1978, dix personnes sont mortes lorsque l'avion dans lequel elles se trouvaient s'écrasa sur le flanc d'une colline perdue dans le brouillard, à la périphérie de Saint-Jean de Terre-Neuve.Cette tragédie a affecté de nombreuses personnes au Canada et à l'étranger.Nous tous qui sommes historiens, nous avons perdu des amis et des collègues au seuil de leur carrière.Nous avons été privés brutalement de leur savoir, de leurs intuitions et de leur sagesse.Nous déplorons vivement la perte de ces hommes et de ces femmes dont nous ne pouvions vraiment pas nous passer.
