A erosão da monarquia brasileira não passou despercebida a Henri Allizé, diplomata francês, cujo interessantíssimo depoimento sobre o Brasil de 1886 completa a ótica externa de Wenzel de Mareschal de Wash, de Mawe, de Luccock, de Seidler, de Soix e do nosso Koster. Allizé registra, sem intelectualismo, com certa "non chalance", um império cujo monarca era interessado em questões de Estado apenas no que exigiam as trepidações dos partidos. Estes, ficção legal da representação popular, exterioridade vistosa no seu anglicismo parlamentar, não correspondiam mais a realidade do último quartel do século XIX. The erosion of the Brazilian monarchy did not go unnoticed by Henri Allizé, a French diplomat, whose most interesting testimony about Brazil of 1886 completes the external view of Wenzel de Mareschal de Wash, Mawe, Luccock, Seidler, Soix, and our Koster. Allizé registers, without intellectualism, with a certain "non chalance", an empire whose monarch was interested in matters of State only in what demanded the trepidations of the parties. These, legal fiction of the popular representation, showy exteriority in their parliamentary anglicism, no longer corresponded to the reality of the last quarter of the nineteenth century.
