Emerging contaminants are a major source of concern, these are new pollutants that have recently been detected in the environment and may present a big danger due to their properties. They are ubiquitous, persistent, present in trace amounts, accumulative, biologically active and highly toxic. These contaminants include pharmaceuticals and personal care products. Given its favorable location and the city’s inability to use it for recreational activities or other purposes, the crucial objective of this study was to detect the pharmaceutical residues and care products present in Lac Osisko in Rouyn-Noranda in Abitibi, as well as the source of this pollution. A list of contaminants has been proposed according to the literature, containing the main pharmaceutical classes consumed such as antibiotics (chloramphenicol, chlortetracycline, ciprofloxacin, sufamethazine, sulfamethaoxazole, tetracycline), analgesics and anti-inflammatory (acetaminophen, diclofenac, ibuprofen, naproxen, salicylic acid, caffeine), antidepressant (venlafaxine), anxiolytic (carbamazepine) and personal care products (triclosan, methylparaben, propylparaben). The methodology adopted for the analysis of these contaminants results in two steps, solid phase extraction (SPE) combined with liquid chromatography associated with tandem mass spectrometry and electrospray ionization (LC/MS-MS/ESI). Several contaminants are detected with high concentrations such as caffeine, salicylic acid, anthranilic acid and methylparaben in surface water. The values can reach 483 ng.L-1 , 244 ng.L-1 , 112 ng.L-1 and 49 ng.L-1 respectively. The same applies to sediments with concentrations of 312 ng.L-1 for methylparaben and 161 ng.L-1 for salicylic acid. These concentration peaks are observed near the outfalls, and further we go more the concentrations of pollutants decrease. This contamination should be explained by the presence of numerous storms drain outfalls that discharge into the lake, bringing water back from urban runoff, especially since many residences are not connected to sewer systems and have septic systems, some of which are more than twenty years old. These septic systems are not 100% effective, and the contaminants can pass into the groundwater and end up being discharged into the lake.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
