Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This thesis project investigates how contemporary artists articulate their experiences and
\nperspectives as diasporic Muslim women in Ontario. It questions the cultural, political and
\naffective dimensions of establishing oneself in a new, or multiple locations– in this case from
\nPakistan and Iran to Canada. Featuring artworks by Sumaira Tazeen, Sheila Esfahani and
\nMariam Magsi, the exhibition (Re)presenting the Muslim diaspora: Adaptation. Hybridization.
\nResistance emphasizes the tension inherent in negotiating multiple cultural and individual
\nidentities. By focusing solely on Pakistani and Irani Muslim women artists in Ontario who deal with issues of representation in their own diverse practices, the exhibition challenges the normalization of the realities associated with being a Muslim woman in western society.
\nIn doing so, this thesis projects informs broader cultural understandings of both personal and universal dimensions of global migration and the Muslim diaspora.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
